Costumes Notes

Lolita fashion is a love-hate thing with me. I love some of the less frilly designs and the wa-loli dresses in particular, but hate the very restrictive design rules and the brand obsession that comes with the Lolita culture.

I decided to throw most of the rules out of the window when designing this and just went with something vaguely wa-loli inspired instead.

The top was based off a haori pattern (why I used this instead of a kimono pattern, I really don't know), so it doesn't close across the chest quite how I'd like. The skirt was a six panel almost-circle skirt. The obi is a cheater obi and consists of the belt and the bow.

The top and obi were reversible, should I want to have a primarily black theme with blue accents instead of the blue with black.

The name of the costume was derived from the mottled blue fabric used, which reminded me of a slightly cloudy sky, so 青空 (aozora - blue sky).
