Costumes Notes
Hi, my name is Sha and I have a Loki problem.
There are so many Loki (re)designs saved on my computer (I love the black/gold/green combo), but this was the first full costume I decided to tackle. I just loved the all the little bits of the design AND the artist kindly provided a back view of the costume so how could I say no.
The fashion layer corset was made from fourteen pieces of green fabric, meticulously sewn together to achieve an intricate woven look. Unfortunately, all the detail was lost as soon as it was more then two feet away, so most of the seams were lined with gold beads to bring out the details.
The original crinoline constructed for this costume proved too feeble for the weight of the skirts, so it was supplemented with an additional crinoline that I had bought for another costume years previously to give the required amount of poof.
The diadem was made from craft foam, worbla, and PaperClay with apoxysculpt used to hold it to a headband. (Previous attempts of using hotglue to bond the headband to the diadem proved to be ineffective as it took very little pressure to break the bond.) The gold collar was made from craft foam and acrylic paint. The shoes (originally cream canvas) were painted with gold fabric paint and the wedge with gesso and gold acrylic paint.
Unable to find appropriately striped tights, I made my own from black and green spandex pieced together to form the extra wide stripes. The armbands were put together in much the same manner.
While I didn't expect to be recognized as (a) Loki that often, it seemed that between the diadem and the black, green, and gold colour scheme, LoliLoki is well recognized. Which is fantastic, as I've gotten a chance to meet and connect with many other Lokis and Loki fans at various conventions.
